Sutton Council Trading Standards have issued a warning to Sutton residents after a number of people reported receiving leaflets from a company called Roof Masters Building Maintenance Ltd. of Willow Farm, Chertsey.

The flyer displays the Checkatrade logo – however, Trading Standards have confirmed that the limited company was dissolved in December 2016 and are no longer members of the Checkatrade initiative.

Trading Standards advise residents to be cautious when responding to leaflet drops for work such as roofing and driveways, and to beware of rogue traders. If residents do agree to work being done they should be aware of the 14-day cancellation rights they have unless the work is bespoke. It is always a good idea to get three quotes from different contractors before getting any work done, and always make sure correct documentation is provided with an agreed quote for the work to be carried out.

To find a reputable trader Sutton Council and Sutton Police would always recommend using the Safer Sutton Trader Scheme, a list of local businesses that is vetted by Trading Standards officers.
